This Sunday, as we continue our Lenten series, an examination of Elisabeth Kübler-Ross’s five stages of grief, we will reflect on a vulnerable and powerful moment in Jesus’ life. In Luke 22:39-46, we find Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane, praying in anguish and yet moving toward acceptance. When Jesus says, “Not my will but yours be done,” he shows us that acceptance is not about giving up or giving in. It is about opening ourselves to God's purposes, even when they are difficult to face.
We live in a world that tells us to resist and control every situation. Yet in this moment, Jesus invites us to stop fighting what cannot be changed and to trust that God's strength will sustain us. As you prepare your heart this week, I encourage you to reflect on these questions:
- Where in your life are you holding on too tightly?
- How might God be inviting you to let go and embrace acceptance so you can live more fully in God's grace?
