Who Let The Possum In? - October 4, 2026

This Sunday, we will turn to Ephesians 4:25–32 and Paul’s warning to “not make room for the devil.” Using a rather memorable childhood encounter with a possum that found its way into my family’s house, we will think about the openings we sometimes leave in our lives and in the church through unresolved anger, resentment, jealousy, pride, careless words, and division. 

Paul reminds us that these things may begin small, but when we allow them to remain, they can grow and damage relationships and the unity of the church. The good news is that Scripture also shows us how to close those doors through honest conversation, forgiveness, kindness, humility, and reconciliation. 

As you read Ephesians 4:25–32 this week, consider these questions: 

  • What doors might we unknowingly be leaving open in our own lives or relationships? 
  • And what would it look like for us to close those openings before something small becomes something much larger?
