June 4, 2023 - Genesis 1:1-5 and John 1:1-5

Our First Family As we approach Trinity Sunday, we invite you to join us for the start of our summer sermon series from Genesis, aptly titled "Family Reunion." This Sunday, we will explore the profound mystery of the Holy Trinity, an essential doctrine fundamental to our Christian faith. While the term “Trinity” itself is not found in the Bible, the idea of a singular God revealed in three distinct forms - the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - is deeply woven throughout the scriptures. Our text for the week, Genesis 1:1-5 and John 1:1-5, presents the Trinity at the dawn of creation, the perfect "divine family" characterized by eternal, unconditional love, mutual joy, and peace. We will delve into this divine harmony and the subsequent discord introduced by humanity's fall, examining God's relentless pursuit of reconciliation. As we journey through the stories of Genesis in the weeks to come, we will explore how our imperfect families and flawed relationships ...

May 28, 2023 - Acts 2:1-21

The Divine Tornado This coming Sunday, Pentecost, marks the culmination of our post-Easter sermon series focusing on evangelism and change within the modern church. We'll be delving into Acts 2:1-21, a transformative narrative highlighting the Holy Spirit's powerful and disruptive force during the birth of Christ’s church over 2,000 years ago. As we prepare for this sermon, I invite you to ponder these questions: Have you experienced a spiritual disruption that startled you? How did you respond? In what ways has the Holy Spirit encouraged you to change? These reflections will prepare us to explore the often-uncomfortable dynamics of spiritual growth and the transformative power of the Holy Spirit. As we approach Pentecost, let's anticipate the potential divine tornado and be open to it. Spiritual growth often involves stepping out of our comfort zones. So, this Sunday, let's together brace ourselves for a transformative encounter with the Holy Spirit, a force that cha...

I'M SEEING RED!

Dear Church Family This coming Sunday is a very special day for us as Christians. It is Pentecost, the day when we celebrate the sending of the Holy Spirit and the birthday of the church. Pentecost is the only time of the year that the church paraments and pastor’s stole are red, symbolizing the fire and power of the Spirit. In celebration of Pentecost, I invite you to wear red if you desire, to show your joy and gratitude for the gift of the Spirit. We will also take time to remember those brave men and women that paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. In honor of Memorial Day, a day set aside to remember those that died in battle, we will set aside time for members to call out the names of loved ones that died in battle. Remember, this is not the time to honor veterans as we do on Veterans Day nor is it the time to honor active-duty members, as we do that on Armed Forces Day. I look forward to seeing you all on Sunday, as we worship God in spirit and in truth. May God bles...

May 21, 2023 - Acts 1:1-11

The In-Between Acts 1:1-11 As we approach the often-overlooked celebration of Ascension Sunday, we are reminded not only of Jesus' departure but also of the transformative event that marked the beginning of the Holy Spirit's work among us. But what does this transition truly signify for us, as believers? In the anticipation of His return, how then should we live our lives? In my upcoming sermon, we will explore the profound impact of the ascension on the early church and its relevance to us in our spiritual journey today. We will reflect on how Jesus' physical departure was a prerequisite for the spiritual arrival of the Holy Spirit and the deep implications of this shift in our relationship with God.   We’ll look at living life in the “the in-between”. I’ll talk about this and more on Sunday. I hope to see you soon!

May 14, 2023 - Acts 17:22-31

Evangelism 101       This  Sunday, we'll be diving into the crucial aspect of evangelism in our Christian life, exploring Acts 17:22-31. We will delve into the importance of sharing the gospel and how we can learn from Paul's approach in engaging with others in a loving and respectful manner. Paul's encounter with the Athenians provides a remarkable example of how we can introduce others to the one true God without resorting to condemnation or ridicule.      In our sermon, we will discuss various ways to share the gospel with gentleness and respect, such as building genuine relationships, serving others, praying for those around us, and sharing our testimonies. Through these means, we can create opportunities for the Holy Spirit to work in the lives of those we encounter.       Join us on Sunday as we learn to embrace wisdom and love in sharing the gospel, glorifying God, and fulfilling the Great Commission.

May 7, 2023 - Acts 7:55-60

As we prepare for our upcoming sermon, let us reflect on Acts 7:55-60, which showcases God's transformative power through the story of Saul's conversion to the Apostle Paul.  This narrative reminds us that God's grace knows no bounds; if God could change, forgive, and use Saul, then God can certainly do the same for us. As you meditate on this passage, remember that our worthiness comes solely through Christ and the grace God offers.  Join us this Sunday as we delve deeper into Saul's transformation and explore its implications for our own lives, celebrating the assurance that God can change, forgive, and use each of us for the divine purpose.
