Our First Family
As we approach Trinity Sunday, we invite you to join us for the start of our summer sermon series from Genesis, aptly titled "Family Reunion." This Sunday, we will explore the profound mystery of the Holy Trinity, an essential doctrine fundamental to our Christian faith. While the term “Trinity” itself is not found in the Bible, the idea of a singular God revealed in three distinct forms - the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - is deeply woven throughout the scriptures.
Our text for the week, Genesis 1:1-5 and John 1:1-5, presents the Trinity at the dawn of creation, the perfect "divine family" characterized by eternal, unconditional love, mutual joy, and peace. We will delve into this divine harmony and the subsequent discord introduced by humanity's fall, examining God's relentless pursuit of reconciliation. As we journey through the stories of Genesis in the weeks to come, we will explore how our imperfect families and flawed relationships become a canvas on which God paints the masterpiece of divine love and reconciliation.
As we prepare our hearts for this week, I invite you to ponder these two questions: How can we model the love and unity of the Trinity in our everyday lives? And in what ways can we respond to God's relentless invitation to return to the divine family communion? Remember, our faith tells us of a God who never gives up on us, always inviting us back into the loving embrace of the Holy Trinity.
